Prof. Frank C. LU
Prof. Frank C. LU, a famous American toxicologist, had been the Head of the Pharmacology and Toxicology Section, Food and Drug Directorate, Canadian Ministry of Health, as the Chief of the Food Additives Unit. Prof. LU also had been a chief officer in WHO headquarter. Prof. LU has written six books and morn than 200 scientific papers. In 1988, under Prof. LU’s suggestion and direction, the Biomedical and Environmental Sciences journal was published in USA.

Prof. Chunming CHEN
Prof. Chunming CHEN started the publication of Biomedical and Environmental Sciences in 1988.
Professor Chunming CHEN was trained and graduated as B.S. on Nutritional Sciences in the Department of Agricultural Chemistry of National Central University of China in 1947. She has been working on nutrition research since then, and has been engaged in research on rickets, vitamin D assay, and nationwide nutrition surveys. She has been focused on Population Nutrition and Nutrition Policy studies since 1982, and designed the current National Nutrition Surveillance System in China. Based on it, she edited the book . Obesity and iron fortification are the key issues to be addressed under her leadership. She is involved in the nutrition policy research
Professor CHEN has been the Director-General of the Department of Health and Epidemic Prevention of the Ministry of Health of China during 1982-1984 and as the founding President of the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine (Now the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention) during 1983-1992. She has been deeply involved in public health activities in China.
As a member of the WHO Expert Panel on Nutrition during 1979-2002 and widely involved in nutrition studies in China, she has been actively participating international nutrition activities. She was elected as the Vice Chairperson of the FAO/WHO International Conference on Nutrition held in 1992. The Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations awarded her the in 1992. She has been the director of the International Life Science Institute (ILSI) Focal Point in China since its establishment in 1993 till January 2004, which is working on scientific information for addressing nutrition and food safety issues in China. She was nominated as the Fellow of International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) in 1997, and awarded Gopalan Award by the Nutrition Society of India at the 9th Asian Congress on Nutrition in 2003.
Professor Chunming CHEN is a board member of GAIN (Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition) started in 2002. She has been a member of the Reference Group for WHO Global Strategy on Diet, Physical Activity and Health for NCD Prevention.
