  • In order to advance the construction of a Healthy China and prioritize the health of the people in development strategies, the “2023 China Tumor Prevention and Control Conference” was held in Beijing from October 13th to 15th, 2023, hosted by the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association (CPMA) and organized by the Tumor Prevention and Control Professional Committee of the CPMA. Guided by the “Healthy China (2019–2030)” Cancer Prevention and Control Action Plan, the conference centered around the theme “Strengthening Tumor Prevention and Control, Building a Healthy China”. It invited experts and scholars in the field of tumor prevention and control from both domestic and international arenas, frontline grassroots workers dedicated to tumor prevention and control, and the public interested in this field, to establish a high-level platform for academic exchange together, collectively enhance the professional standards in the field of tumor prevention and control, promote technological innovation, and continually improve human health.

    The conference was divided into the main venue and sub-venues. At the main venue, experts presented a comprehensive overview of the national cancer situation, cancer prevention and control strategies, summarized the achievements in implementing the “Healthy China” Pain Prevention and Treatment, and provided prospects to future work implementation. The main venue also specifically discussed the background and actions for preventing and treating liver cancer in China, emphasized precise prevention efforts, and improved the overall level of liver cancer prevention and control, focusing on prevention and screening from a national perspective. There were four sub-venues covering various aspects, including comprehensive tumor prevention and control and innovation in the development of healthy cities, population-based tumor prevention and control, tumor prevention and control policies and international cooperation, and a youth forum for tumor prevention and control. In addition to the sub-venues, the conference also featured a special lunch session to update participants on the latest developments in tumor vaccine and testing technologies.

    The conference had approximately 900 registered attendees from 10 countries and 31 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions, and special administrative regions within China, receiving high recognition from peers in the field of tumor prevention and control. It not only shared cutting-edge information on domestic tumor prevention and control but also incorporated international perspectives from countries along the “Belt and Road” initiative. It demonstrated the commitment of China’s tumor prevention and control professionals to building a platform for mutual learning and collaboration with the “Belt and Road” countries, contributing to the development of tumor prevention and control together.
